RESIDENTS’ group members are meeting with Aldi bosses this week to discuss the supermarket chain’s plans for a second store in Loughborough.

HWRA (Haddon Way Residents Association) has announced on its Facebook page that the meeting will take place this Wednesday.

The association states: “The HWRA Committee have the opportunity to meet with representatives from Aldi regarding the proposed new store on Allendale Road. Along with committee members from Shelthorpe Community Association and the Grange Park Centre group, we will be raising concerns passed to us from residents in the locality.

“If residents would like to express their support or concerns for the proposed store, we would recommend you use the Charnwood Borough Council planning portal to register your comments.”

Aldi has officially submitted its planning application for a new food store, a drive-through coffee shop and three retail units on land next to Allendale Road, Loughborough.

The site, which lies between the A6004 and Allendale Road, is set be developed with a new, high-quality Aldi food store and several retail units, including a coffee shop.

The company says the development would represent a significant multi-million-pound investment into the local economy and create around 100 jobs.

But there has been a mixed reception to the plans.

The deadline for submitting your comments is Wednesday, July 12, on the Charnwood Borough Council planning portal website at portal. charnwood.gov.uk - the planning application number is P/17/0942/2.
