D espite a new role as visiting professor at the London School of Economics teaching a course on the impact of war on women, Hollywood actor and director Angelina Jolie has opted to set up home in Hollywood rather than London.
She evidently wants to stay on good terms with her ex, Brad Pitt, who lives in LA, after reaching an agreement to resolve their divorce and custody dispute in private. Jolie and Pitt have already started putting their homes up for sale, including a French chateau and New Orleans mansion. Now, she’s forked out $25m for a super-swanky property in the gated Laughlin Park, where other A-listers such as Natalie Portman and Casey Affleck have homes.
Set in 2.1 acres, the sixbedroom pad should be big enough for Jolie and her six children Maddox, Zahara, Pax, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.
The new house even has film star pedigree as it’s the former address of legendary movie maker Cecil B. DeMille, who produced and directed dozens of movies including The Ten Commandments. He entertained heads of state, industry leaders and military heroes at the house, which was also the setting for publicity photos of young actresses. Charlton Heston even visited every Sunday for a year to be coached for his role of Moses. The mansion has a curved stairway in the foyer, formal living room with fireplace, mahoganypanelled dining room, library with floor-toceiling book shelves, and outdoor pool.
