Youth give senior teams a lesson

-

PRESEASON for Ammanford FC Youth has started with a bang as they have taken the scalps of two senior teams in Llandeilo and Pendine in the last week, showing what talent this under-18s side possesses.

With 14 goals scored and only two conceded via a penalty and a free-kick, the Young Boars showed some real flair in winning 7-2 and 7-0, both away from home.

The new additions to the squad have brought a new energy to the side and after some rusty performances the team are now staring to gel and take shape.

Keeper Ethan Morgan is looking a confident asset to the squad and has not conceded a goal in open play in the last two games.

The solid defence sees Jac Chapman, Celt Williams, Gwilym Smith, Ben Arundel, Iestyn Richards, Harry G and Jamie Owens all battling it out for places in the starting line-up, while midfielders Harri Jones, Callum Thomas, Parem Banssi, Steffan Thomas and Morgan Cai Thomas are fearless and have the skill to produce some magic at a blink of an eye.

This is supported by the immense pace out on the wings in the shape of Cian Williams. Harri Thomas, Nico Sofiu and Osian Davies, who have the support of pacy frontmen Lewis Trotman and Cai Rees, with both strikers netting a hat-trick each in their last games. Osian Davies also netted a hattrick against Pendine.

This year the team have the formidable challenge of playing in the JD South Welsh Youth League with trips as far as Newport.

This is a big achievement for such a small town to produce such a strong team with local boys that have come up through the ranks from the U12s.

Coach Carl Morgan said: “I am looking forward to the upcoming season and aware of the huge challenge that lies ahead.

“With over five players already being involved with the club’s first team we are going in the right direction.”

Carl is looking for an assistant coach who is motivated, committed and has a good knowledge of the game.
