‘Let’s get that winning feeling back at Leeds’

DEFEATS are tougher to take when the winning feeling is so familiar and Leicester City don’t want to be left dwelling on another loss when they take on Leeds.

City head to Elland Road for tonight’s huge clash against their promotion rivals on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough last weekend.

Meanwhile, Leeds are on an eightgame winning streak.

That reverse against Boro was just City’s fifth loss this season, so it’s not a feeling they are used to.

And midfielder Harry Winks says they don’t want it to linger.

He said: “It’s difficult because when you win so many games like we have this year – we enjoy and get used to that winning feeling.

“When you lose it’s tough to take but it’s part of the game.

“It’s part of the league. It’s a tough league. We have to accept that and put it right.

“The most important thing is how we respond now – in the right way – after losing a game.

“We’re staying positive because it’s not the time now to feel sorry for ourselves or dwell on it. We have to now put it right.”

In November, City lost consecutive matches to Leeds and Boro.

Having already been beaten by Daniel Farke’s team, they did not need their current excellent form to know they are a good side.

It’s a clash of styles at Elland Road as City’s possession-orientated, methodical game plan sees them face Leeds’ quick, direct approach.

“We know they’re a good side and regardless of their run, we know the threats that they have and how they can hurt us,” Winks said. “We have to be aware of that.

“We also know we can hurt them and need to focus on what we can do, but be mindful of their qualities and their strengths. We need to prepare well, but it should be a good game.

“All the noise surrounding it is external and we just have to focus purely on the game and our preparations, what we need to do to beat them. Everything else is for the outside to speak about, but not for us to control.”
