Strike Force held by rivals
Faversham Strike Force extended their unbeaten run to seven games in the Kent County League Premier Division as they took a point from their trip to Bromleians. Gary Axford’s high-fliers have not lost in the league since mid-october. But with little separating the two teams in the table it was a predictably close game in south-east London. Jordan Simpson and Tom Axford continued their good recent scoring form as they each found the net in a 2-2 draw, with Dave Walsh awarded man-of-the-match honours.
“I can never be completely happy with a point,” said manager Axford. “But this is a tough place to come and we made sure they didn’t close the gap on us, so there are positives for us to take.” Under-14 Lightning put in a superb team performance to defeat Woodnesborough 2-1 despite having to withstand some late pressure. Their goals came from Sol Streatfield and Jack Feaver. Peter Quenbey, Ruben Skelding and Zak Kyle were the players of the match for under-13 Thunder as they battled hard, and improved in the second half, but ultimately lost 5-0 to Tyler Hill Youth.
Captain Ben Mulcahy scored twice as under-13 Lightning defeated Margate Girls 4-2 at The Mount. Man-of-thematch Dylan Kent added another and Leo Carley rounded off the scoring. Liam Jameson was superb in goal. There were joint players of the match for Lightning under-12s too, as Tom Scamp and George Ruffles refused to give up in their team’s defeat to Ramsgate. Under-10 Thunder’s two Sams – Lilley and Laker – both hit doubles against Tankerton as Jack Wyles added another with a great first-time finish. Lilley was named top player with one of his goals a superb solo effort. A brilliant performance from Under-10 Lightning against a strong Woodnesborough FC included a goal from Archie Brazil goal as Charlie-jack Hodgson was awarded man of the match. Under-9 Lightning continued their good form against Canterbury Eagles. Their work rate was rewarded with goals from man-of-the-match Albert Biscoe (two), Austin Wanmer and Henry Gossling. Finn Crawley picked up a brace for under-7 Lightning against Rising Stars, as Oscar Clapp was named best player.
Four first-half goals from man-of-the-match Elliott Jones were the highlight of under-7 Hurricanes’ thrilling match against Thanet Colts.
