Lilywhites suffer more frustration

Ryman League

-

Ray Turner said Faversham were again worthy of a point from a game they lost 1-0 at Hastings in Ryman League, Division 1 South on Tuesday night.

The home side’s Matt Bodkin volleyed wide of Will Godmon’s goal early on before the hosts saw two goals ruled out for offside.

Callum Emptage was then sent- off for Hastings four minutes before the break but the Sussex side claimed the points soon after when Frannie Collin glanced home from a cross from the left of the area.

Town boss Turner said: “We were ever so good in the first half-hour.

“Then there was a 10-minute period when they had a man sent- off and I thought we might win it but Collin has emphasised the difference at this level – one chance and he’s scored it.

“It’s another loss and it doesn’t matter that we controlled them for long periods.”

After a delay to kick-off, Faversham saw their game at home to South Park on Saturday postponed due to heavy fog at 3.10pm.

Herne Bay’s game at home to Horsham went ahead, however, despite the murky conditions. Chances were few and far between in the opening half, Ben Gorham going closest for the hosts.

The home side started sluggishly after half- time and were punished just before the hour when Lewi s Hyde emerged unmarked through the mist to power home a near post header.

Bay responded well and laid seige to Josh Pelling’s goal with Connor Sanders hitting the post and Danny Williams the bar.

Horsham were reduced to 10 with 10 minutes remaining when Alex Duncan collected his second booking but Bay could not take advantage and dropped a place above the dropzone.
