Kent Village League

Paul Bourdillon ran out of batting partners and was stranded on 99 not out as Exiles at Bridge lost by four wickets to Harbledown in Division 1. The opener received little support at the crease as Exiles were bowled out for 127 in 21 overs. Harbledown chased down the victory target for the loss of six wickets to go top. They displaced Harvel at the top, after they fell to a nine-run defeat against Littlebourne. Buzz Gould (79) led the way for Littlebourne as they made 206-9 before restricting their opponents to 197-9. Half-centuries from Sacha Azizi (54) and Paul Betts (64 not out) provided Street End with their first victory as they beat Stone-in-Oxney by eight wickets. Batting first, Stone made 194-8 but a 97-run partnership between Azizi and Betts ensured that Street End reached their target for the loss of just two wickets. Tim Dudgeon scored 83 as Ash beat Meopham by seven wickets. Selsted captain Stuart Green’s knock of 86 was not enough to provide victory for his side over Bapchild as they lost by five wickets. Despite the skipper’s innings, Selsted only set their opponents 181 to win, which Bapchild chased for the loss of five wickets thanks to a James Sutton half-century. Jason Cork took 4-23 as Sheldwich were bowled out for 77 – a target that Wingham reached for the loss of one wicket in a low-scoring game. Tailender Adam Arnold struck an unbeaten 35 to provide Tyler Hill with a one-wicket win over Teston in Division 3. Batting at No.10, Arnold’s innings helped his side pass Teston’s total of 137 all out. Selling are in the promotion places after they beat Stowting by 30 runs. Captain Ollie Lane (52) top scored for Selling as they made 202-8 from their 40 overs, which was too many for Stowting to chase, despite an unbeaten century from Jon Hill (103 not out). Norton are still searching for their first win in Division 4 following a 58-run loss to Borstal. Simon Chittim took 4-7 as Wingham bowled out Loose & Leeds for 105 on their way to a six-wicket victory in Division 5. A batting collapse cost potential victory for Harbledown 2nds as they lost by eight wickets away to Higham & Mockbeggar. Batting first, the visitors started well with openers Neil Harrison and Neil Turner, scoring 30 and 59 respectively. Despite that start, they were all out for 138, which the hosts chased down in 31.3 overs. Steve Davies’ knock of 63 was not enough to prevent a seven-wicket defeat for Littlebourne against Borden. Boughton-underBlean remain bottom of Division 5 after losing to Eastchurch by 35 runs.
