Raise cash for hospice by solving a prickly problem

-

Pilgrims Hospice will be running their annual Christmas tree recycling service again this year.

The charity’s campaign solves a prickly problem, they will take away a Christmas tree for a donation.

Last year, they raised £14,000 thanks to the strong force of volunteers and now, in its fifth year, the event is back and bigger than ever.

Theresa Samworth, community and events manager said: “If you live anywhere within the Ashford Borough, you can register now to have your tree collected by one of our volunteers over the weekend of January 14 and 15, at the same time making your chosen donation online.

“Pilgrims has to raise £11 million a year to be able to continue to offer its services and we hope to raise over £14,000 between now and January 8 through this fundraising initiative.”

The mayor of Tenterden, Pam Smith is keen to encourage more residents in the Tenterden area to take part in the scheme.

She said: “I am delighted to support Pilgrims Hospices as one of my charities this year. This is such a simple and effective way to deal with the age-old problem of disposing of your tree whilst raising funds for our local hospice.

“It would be fabulous if we could double the numbers taking part in Tenterden this year.”

The charity would like to hear from people in Ashford or Tenterden with vans that may be able to help.
