I love a really cracking crime drama. I loved Unforgotten – I’m a massive Nicola Walker fan, and Sanjeev Bhaskar is just a dude. I enjoy things like Happy Valley and Silent Witness. The women on screen in these dramas are killing it – if that’s not too much of a pun!
I was watching Summer Heights High the other night, that was really funny. And I thought Fleabag was quite extraordinary, I like a great pathos like that – something that’s funny but not just funny. Even Summer Heights High is quite a sad programme really – it’s like a tragicomedy.
Cooking shows are so inspiring, and they tell you about culture – I’m really fascinated with the way we use different ingredients all over the world. I might be watching Masterchef Australia and they’ll come up with lime and you go, ‘“That’s a finger lime – we don’t even have those limes!”
It’s fascinating to me.
I’m a massive Marvel Comics superhero show fan, so I’ve just finished the second series of Luke Cage. I also like a show on Netflix called Anne With An E – I can’t believe I’m telling you that! I love things that have a gentle lilt like that – sometimes you just need to escape.
If I could be in any show, I’d like one where I’d be an adventurer-travelogue chef. We never get to see women in that vein – Rick Stein gets to go in a car with the top down and drive through Mexico [in Rick Stein’s Road To Mexico], why are there no women doing that? I want to do that!
