The future of Rana and Kate’s relationship is threatened this week – as Kate gets a touch of the green-eyed monster.
Rana is distraught following her family’s failed attempt to kidnap her – and when she turns to her estranged hubby Zeedan after rejecting Kate’s invitation to move in together, Kate is seething with jealousy…
“Kate and Rana’s relationship might be out in the open, but there are still so many obstacles in their way,” points out Faye Brookes, who plays Kate. “Kate forgets sometimes that Rana’s still married, and that she still cares about Zeedan. So when Kate devotes all her time and attention to Rana, but doesn’t always get the same back, it’s upsetting for her.”
After Kate’s flatmate Alya announces that she’s sick of living with the woman who wrecked her brother’s marriage, Kate suggests Alya moves back home with Zeedan while Rana moves in with her. But with the Habeebs having cut all financial ties with Zeedan as well as their daughter, Rana feels responsible – and rejects Kate’s offer of living together.
Meanwhile, Zeedan and Rana are relieved when she persuades her brother Imran to invest in Zeedan’s new restaurant, Speed Daal – but Kate isn’t happy at all.
“She sees Zeedan hugging Rana in the Bistro,” reveals Faye. “He’s just thanking her for getting Imran on board, but Kate doesn’t understand why Rana has her brother helping Zeedan when she’s been trying to separate herself from him. Why is she still playing wifey? She doesn’t want Rana giving Zeedan any false hope.”
There’s further upset when Rana’s father Hassan turns up and reveals her mother Saira has been arrested on kidnap charges – and he accuses his daughter of calling the police. Insisting she would never do so, Rana points the finger at Zeedan – but it’s not long before the real identity of the whistle-blower is revealed, and Rana is knocked for six.
After rushing to the police station and pleading with them to drop the charges against her mother, she makes an emotional apology to Zeedan – and when waitress Kayla spies the former couple’s intimate moment, Zeedan confides in his employee that he reckons Rana still has feelings for him. But is he

“Knowing Zeedan and
Rana have been together really ruffles Kate’s feathers – she’s good old-fashioned jealous,” admits Faye. “Rana is the love of her life, and Kate doesn’t appreciate her leading Zeedan on – even more so because the two of them are still married. That breaks Kate’s heart…”
