Give the desktop a makeover
1 Change the image
Make your Mac look like an imac Pro by opening System Preferences>desktop & Screensaver>desktop. Select the imac Pro image. Needs macos 10.13.4!
2 Schedule the changes
While you are here, you might want to select the option to change the desktop picture on a schedule. Choose the timeframe from the menu and see a new image every so often.
3 Save the screen
Modern screens don’t suffer burn-in problems, but screen savers are still fun. Select the Screen Saver tab and choose one. We like the itunes Artwork that shows album covers.
4 Customise the options
Click the Screen Saver Options button to customise the screen saver settings. Different savers have different settings and this one lets you choose the rows and the delay.
5 Animated live wallpaper
Desktop backgrounds can be live like a video. Search the Mac App Store for ‘live wallpaper’ and select one. This is Rainfall and rain constantly runs down the Mac’s screen.
6 Swim with sharks
Sharks 3D is another free live wallpaper from the Mac App Store. Your Mac looks like it is under the sea and sharks, seaweed and shoals of fish swim by. It’s a lot of fun!
7 Desktop view options
Give desktop icons a makeover by selecting View>show View Options. Drag the sliders to set the spacing and the icon size. Choose the label position and item information.
8 icloud Drive options
The desktop on all your Macs can be kept in sync so all files are available everywhere. Open System Preferences, click icloud, tick icloud Drive and then click ‘Options’.
9 Enable Desktop syncing
Tick the option at the top, ‘Desktop & Documents Folders’. This stores the contents of these folders in your icloud storage so they can be accessed anywhere, from any device.
