Rural task force seize vehicle

SUSPECTED hare coursers have had their vehicle seized and been reported for wildlife offences.

Reports of hare coursing in the South Dalton and Holme upon Spalding Moor area prompted action by the Humberside Police, who said: “Another vehicle has been seized under the Hunting Act today (Wednesday, February 10) following reports of hare coursing in the South Dalton & Holme Upon Spalding Moor area. Occupants have been reported for wildlife offences and breaches of Covid legislatio­n.”

The incident came in the same week Humberside Police set up a new dedicated unit focusing on tackling rural, wildlife and heritage crimes within the East Riding.

The Rural Task Force, based at Driffield Police Station, will target criminals who strike within the county’s rural communitie­s.

A MAN has been arrested after a brawl broke out which shut Beverley Road for two hours.

Police were called to Cave Street at around 3pm yesterday after reports a man had been assaulted.

One witness said they saw a brawl unfold outside one of the shops in Beverley Road, leaving a pool of blood on the ground.

He said: “Beverley Road closure due to a fight outside a shop opposite the entrance of Cave Street.

“Three people were involved and there was a pool of blood.

“It was two against one. Police arrived and broke up the fight.”

Humberside Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested and are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
