Kingston share spoils

-

THE re-arranged fixture between Kingston Hull FC and Longhill Ravens brought about a very entertaining game in the under-15s Drypool League at Shelley Avenue.

Having got the fixture sanctioned the day before, both teams were confident of getting the three points in an important fixture at the top end of the table.

Longhill drew first blood after just two minutes through a free-kick just outside the area.

Kingston didn’t let this unsettle them and seven minutes later a long Jake Frederick goal kick led to a Longhill defender mis-kick which Calum Hepworth took advantage of to slot past the keeper.

The next 20 minutes saw both teams go toe to toe until Hepworth put Kingston ahead when a defensive mix-up saw the prolific striker fire in from just inside the area.

Five minutes before half-time Longhill equalised when the ball fell to their striker who finished well.

Kingston upped their game and for the next 20 minutes had the better of possession and territory which paid off when a Jack Midgley free-kick found Dziugas Kotovicius in the area whose slight flick found the bottom corner.

Longhill fought back looking for an equaliser and looked the more likely to get a goal with Kingston’s defence under pressure for long periods.

With 10 minutes to go Longhill finally got the goal they craved when Kingston failed to clear the danger, leaving a Longhill attacker a clear shot at goal from the edge of the area.

The last 10 minutes saw both teams look for a winner but it finished 3-3.

Kotovicius and Tonijs Padrevics won Kingston’s man of the match awards to keep their team unbeaten in the last five and top of the league.
