Rebecca signs up for Giants as club’s youngest director
LIFELONG FAN AND TAX EXPERT IS GRANDDAUGHTER OF OWNER KEN DAVY
A TAX expert and lifelong Huddersfield Giants fan has become the youngest-ever director at the club.
Rebecca Wood, 24, of Holmfirth, is already well known to Giants supporters - she’s the granddaughter of Giants owner Ken Davy and his late wife Jennifer - and is a regular presence at games both within corporate circles and in the stands. Following her appointment, she told YorkshireLive of her hopes of helping the club reach a new generation of fans.
She believes the key is working with schools and Huddersfield University as well as promoting the club widely on social media such as TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram. Rebecca said it was a proud moment to be appointed to the board, saying: “I think grandma would be really proud. She was the reason Ken (Davy) got involved in the club in the first place. I feel like I am doing her proud.”

Rebecca, who works for accountancy firm BDO, would like to encourage more families and under 30s to support the Giants.
She’s not afraid to sing the club’s praises and admits that she is a “very vocal supporter” when in the stands or sitting alongside club directors.
“All the people in the directors’ box know me for my shouting,” he said. “I will shout ‘Come on Giants’ and shout at the ref.”
She added: “I have been watching and following the Huddersfield Giants my whole life so to be invited to join the Board is a real honour. I am so excited to be involved, and look forward to sharing my ideas and adding a new perspective.
“I care tremendously about the Club and am incredibly enthusiastic about the role. I hope that I can make a difference and add value.”

acknowledged the historic nature of the appointment, saying: “Firstly I should formally and publicly welcome Rebecca.”
“We have acknowledged for some time internally that ideally the board needed some diversification in particular in terms of age and gender and Rebecca is a welcome addition.
“No one can doubt her passion for the club and if our club is to succeed longer term we need younger people, fresher perspectives and a recognition of the society that we now live in.
“Rebecca’s background is of course steeped in the club and we are pretty sure that she will be the youngest ever Huddersfield Rugby League club director (certainly in Super League times) and maybe in the entire game.”
