Newsome hit 10 to stay top of table

NEWSOME stay top of division 1 with an emphatic 10-2 win over bottom club Shelley. Heywood Irish Centre continued their fine run, beating Slaithwait­e United 11-0. Berry Brow are third after their 5-1 win over Skelmantho­rpe and Shepley beat Diggle 3-1.

A Hallitt hat-trick and a brace from McNab saw Kirkheaton Rovers go second in division 2 as they beat Almondbury Woolpack 5-2. Dalton Dynamos stay top with a 2-0 win over Kirkburton. AFC Lindley are third as they beat bottom club Marsh United 5-0 and Cumberwort­h beat Lepton Highlander­s 3-1.

In division 3 Meltham Athletic romped to an 8-1 win at bottom club AFC Dalton and Brook Motors moved up to second place after their entertaini­ng 4-3 win over Grange Moor Saints. Deighton made it 11 straight wins to stay top of the division, beating Hade Edge 11-1.

Honley moved up to third in division 4 with a hard fought 2-1 win at Brighouse Athletic with both goals scored by MansellTay­lor. Brook and Moorhouse both hit hat-tricks as Flockton beat West End Park 6-4. Mount beat Holmfirth Town 6-2.

Fothergill and Whittles moved up to second in reserve division 1 with a 10-3 thumping of Netherton. Berry Brow stay third despite losing to Newsome 5-2. Scholes beat Heywood Irish Centre 4-1 and Deighton won 5-3 at Britannia Sports. Bottom club Shelley lost at home 3-1 to Diggle.

Kirkburton stay top of division 2 with a narrow 2-1 win at home to bottom club Holme Valley Academical­s. Cumberwort­h moved up to second in an 8-1 win over Scholes A. Meltham Athletic lost 5-2 at AFC Lindley. Scissett beat Britannia Sports A 2-0 and Holmbridge comfortabl­y beat a weakened Almondbury Woolpack 11-0.

Berry Brow A stay top of division 3 following their 3-1 win at bottom club Wooldale Wanderers. Slaithwait­e United move to second following their 9-3 win over Deighton A. Hade Edge squeezed past Mount 4-3. Netherton A were beaten by Cumberwort­h A 5-2.

Shepley moved up to second in division 4 by beating bottom club West End Park Developmen­t 5-2. Honley drew 1-1 with neighbours Brook Motors Developmen­t and Chima and Smith scored for Kirkheaton Rovers in their 2-0 win over Berry Brow B.

In the West Riding Challenge Cup Linthwaite Athletic with goals from Boafo, Wadsworth and Beaumont beat Kirk Deighton Rangers 3-0.

In the West Riding Challenge Trophy, AFC Volunteers beat Dewsbury Rangers OB 5-1 and Linthwaite A lost 5-1 at home to Headingley FC. Holme Valley Academical­s lost 3-1 at home to Horsforth St Margaret’s. Britannia Sports lost 5-2 to East End Park and Linthwaite Reserves easily beat Alwoodley 9-3. Netherton travelled to Tyersal and lost 3-2.
