Duane doing everything I need him to, says Carlos
CARLOS Corberan is delighted at the progress Duane Holmes is making and praised the player’s attitude.
When asked if the midfielder is in his best form since re-joining the Terriers in January, the Huddersfield Town manager was emphatic in his reply.
“Yes I think so, without any doubt,” he stated. “From the minutes he played against Nottingham Forest I have seen a player that is able to help the team and he’s been very focused in training.
“He’s creating the habits he needs to compete and, for me, this is a high improvement - we are now watching the same player in training we are watching in games.”
Holmes has started Town’s last two fixtures after a series of impressive cameos as a substitute. He struggled for form last season and in the early part of this campaign, but a home on the left of Town’s front three seems to be suiting.
“When you start demanding more of yourself every day of the week, that’s when you start to create the habits to be competitive every time you are on the pitch in a game,” Corberan said. “Because you are just continuing what you do every day.
“I’m watching Holmes and he has this level of concentration, he knows how important he can be, and I’m watching him now play with a determination to show on the pitch how good he is.”
Town face a huge challenge tomorrow with a trip to tabletoppers Bournemouth. The Cherries are unbeaten and have already built up a five-point lead at the top.
Said Corberan: “We are going to try and dominate the game off the ball. In attack they are a very aggressive team and it’s important to break this press. Their attack is very dynamic with a lot of versatility and possibilities.
“Our target is to get something positive, we need to compete perfectly from a defensive point of view.”
