Right men for job of Town recruitmen­t

eminently sensible, while manager Danny Cowley will be taking an early look at what he wants to do with the squad.

Obviously, no hard and fast decisions can be taken on that front until Town know which division they will be playing in next season – something they won’t find out until they complete their fixtures in the summer.

Town won’t play again until at least May and have told the players to stay away from the PPG Canalside training ground until further notice.

So who are the men who will decide on transfer business in the summer?

It’s essential at the outset to make it clear Town won’t be bringing in any player for the 2020-21 season who doesn’t have the seal of approval from manager Danny Cowley.

Devlin will have an associated role to play, but his personal duties as CEO are focused mostly on the non-football side of the business.

And at academy level, a head of recruitmen­t is still to be appointed following the move of Emyr Humphreys from that role to become academy manager.

So, at Town, the following four men will be at the forefront of recruitmen­t:

Smith Rowe (Arsenal), Andy King (Leicester), Chris Willock (Benfica) and Jonas Lossl (Everton).

MANAGER since September and the man who has fought fires on a daily basis, reshaped the playing roster and galvanised an effort to pick up Championsh­ip points.

Cowley’s primary brief remains to keep the club up and avoid relegation to League One, but he will be at the forefront of transfer business in the summer.

Cowley has always said the job is 15 per cent matches and 85pc recruitmen­t. It’s his job to identify who he wants within the budget and the club’s to see who they can secure.
