Plea to help Sam’s family
FRIENDS LAUNCH £6K APPEAL IN MEMORY OF TRAGIC DAD-OF-THREE
FRIENDS and well-wishers are raising money to help the family of a dad of three who was found dead in woodland.
A Just Giving page has been set up to raise £6,000 to support the wife and children of Sam Kennedy, who lived in Meltham.
Huddersfield Town fan Mr Kennedy, 33, a plasterer and builder, was found dead in woodland in Honley earlier this month.
More than 60 people have so far donated just over £2,100 to the crowd funding online appeal which was launched this week.
The appeal page, set up by friends Hayley and Sarah, says: “Thank you for taking the time to visit this Just Giving page created to commemorate our dear friend Sam.
“He meant so much to all his family, friends and colleagues.
“You hear of these things happening to other people but you can never imagine this happening to someone you love so dear and to watch our friend, and her children, go through this is truly heartbreaking.”
The page said Mr Kennedy was a BFG – Big Friendly Giant – to everyone who knew him.
“He lived for Vicki and their children. He was extremely hard working and the family’s main provider. They had made lots of plans for the future, as a young family and as a married couple, which has sadly now been taken away from them.”
The friends said the money raised would help to support Mr Kennedy’s widow Vicki and their children.
“Bringing up children is hard enough as a pair but now Vicki has to do this on her own and support them all financially.”
They added: “Mental health is a
