Siewert offers an update on Pritchard and Grant

-

TOWN head coach Jan Siewert has spoken about both Karlan Grant and Alex Pritchard ahead of tonight’s clash against Wolves.

New £2m strike signing Grant was left on the bench at Newcastle, where Laurent Depoitre was recalled to lead the attack and Steve Mounie was used as a substitute. Midfielder Pritchard didn’t make the matchday squad at all, much to the chagrin of supporters who have watched their team lose 13 of the last 14 Premier League matches. Pritchard has featured for just six minutes as a substitute since Siewert took charge in succession to David Wagner, going on at Chelsea when the match was already well beyond the Terriers. So why hasn’t Pritchard featured?

“I have to make choices and he had a time where he was not available – he had problems with his back for a short time but it was nothing serious,” said Siewert.

“It is not easy after an injury sometimes, but he is a player of the squad, he is a player of Huddersfield Town and I’m sure we will need him. Alex is available for the match (against Wolves).”

With Adama Diakhaby still ruled out with a hamstring injury, will Grant lead the attack?

“It’s possible, it’s definitely possible,” said the boss. “But, once more, we don’t just have Karlan Grant in our squad.

“We have other players who are responsible (for goalscoring) and I don’t want to put the pressure so big on him (Grant).”
