Laura Fisher and ex-eventer Sam The Man Veldhoek double up at medium.
Laura’s two wins came at Bold Heath, her Oswin gelding scoring over 70% on both occasions.
Laura won up to CIC2* level with the 16-year-old but a navicular diagnosis caused her to switch to dressage.
“It’s been a bit ‘one thing after another’ with him,” said Laura, who trains with Darryl Thickitt. “My farrier Ollie Meadows has done wonders with his feet and my vets RD Owen Equine have sorted out his skin. His hair kept falling out and he was itching like mad and it turned out he was allergic to what seems like every mite on the planet. He’s now living in a Snuggy Hoods suit and he’s feeling better than ever.”
Tracy-Anne Ormrod won the medium 61 at Aintree EC riding her KWPN gelding Denver VIII. The nine-year-old was bought a couple of years ago.
“Today was his second outing since being diagnosed with ulcers last year,” said Tracy-Anne, who trains with Stephen Clarke. “He was put on a course of ulcer medication. Within four weeks he’d put on 12kg and I can really feel the difference.”
Clare Chappelhow rode her home-bred Crackenthorpe Yatokya to win both novices at Blackdyke Farm on the horse’s affiliated debut. The Crackenthorpe Kartier x
Celtic Laurus mare is a fourthgeneration home-bred from the Crackenthorpe Stud in Cumbria.
“Lack of time has meant she hasn’t done as much as she should have, but I’m not a fan of rushing them and she takes everything in her stride,” said Clare.
