Amateur fail to build on early wickets

-

HINCKLEY Amateur’s poor run continued as they lost in a rain reduced game to Loughborough Town.

Skipper Jamie Harris-Ensor lost another important toss as the Amateur batsmen were put in, the difficult damp conditions made it hard for the Amateur batsmen to get any rhythm, before 14 year old Ronak Rajashekar belied his years to score a patient 42, Ed Proctor 24, Jamie Harris-Ensor and Ash Harrison both with 19 and Gareth Patterson 18 top scored as they finished on 164-9 in their reduced 43 overs.

Conditions eased after tea and a fine spell of three wickets from Harris-Ensor reduced the Town to 34-3 as Amateurs had high hopes of a rare win, but they lost the initiative and Loughborough got home by five wickets with two overs to spare, a wicket each for Andy Wainscot and Gareth Patterson.

Amateur 2nd went down to local rivals Market Bosworth in the local derby at Ashby Road.

The visitors posted a decent 1877, with Nile Taylor 71 and Matthew Watson 50 getting most of their runs, Matt Smith with three wickets, Sam Gill and Chetan Parmar one each. Rain reduced the Amateurs target, but they never got on top of the bowling Taral Naik top scoring with 43, and Sam Rowe 18 they finished 26 short, Nile Taylor completing his man of the match with 3 wickets.

Amateur 3rds travelled to YMA and trying to beat the rain they reduced the game to 20 overs a side. The host scoring 183-7, two wickets each for Ian Short and Jack Phillips, one each for Aron Hicklin and Nigel Hind, Amateur reached 44-2 before the rain returned and the players called it a day.
