Bowlers decimate top order to secure a convincing win

HINCKLEY Town produced their best performanc­e of the season on Saturday when they beat Sileby Town 2nd XI by 156 runs.

This was some feat considerin­g Sileby were second in the table.

Sileby won the toss and elected to field first but Hinckley got off to a good start putting on 48 for the first wicket at which point Assad Pathan was caught by Micky Ruddle, bowled by Aaron Smith for 21.

This brought in debutante Shahid Abrar and he did not disappoint.

Captain Raj Sen was lbw to Ryan Dawson for 22 when the score was on 51 and Avish Patel was caught Preston, bowled Smith for five making the score 72-3.

Then a fourth wicket stand of 59 between Abrar and Valand took the score on to 131.

Valand was run out for 14, by this time Abrar was 53 not out.

He and Karew Jassab took the score onto 176-5.

Jussab was caught behind by Preston off a Matt Ellis ball for 26.

Abrar was finally an impressive 93 when he was run out leaving the score on 208-6.

Hinckley’s innings faltered at the end losing their last four wickets for 13 runs and they were all out out for 221 after 44.4 overs.

Matt Ellis took 3-49 and there were two wickets each for Smith and Ingram for the hosts.

When Sileby batted, Hinckley’s opening bowling attack was devastatin­g leaving Sileby on 17-7 Singh taking five wickets and Bhola two.

An eighth wicket stand of 37 between Sam Gayle and Ryan Dawson helped matters slightly, but Dawson was bowled by Avish Patel for six with the score on 54-8.

Matt Ellis managed four before he was lbw to Patel. Gayle was last man out for 36 caught and bowled by Janak Valand.

Sileby were all out for 65 after only 19 overs. Suki Singh took 5-13, Patel 2-13 and Bhola 2-18 for Hinckley.

Hinckley gained the maximum 30 points to Sileby’s five.

Next week they visit Earl Shilton.
