Bullivant is the main man from boot and hand

-

HINCKLEY continued their positive attacking form on Saturday, picking up their fourth try bonus of 2017 with a 29-22 win over Preston, writes Chris Campbell.

Preston got the first opportunity for points after three minutes with a converted penalty goal.

Hinckley then dominated possession and territory and looked likely to score the first try, but after a turnover in midfield the visiting scrum-half Ryan Glynn - who will prove a handful for teams for the rest of the season - made a break and a perfectly weighted grabber kick was collected by the winger who fed inside for the try and a 8-0 lead.

Hinckley however finally kicked into gear in the second quarter. Conor Buillivant got the home side on the board with a penalty and then with 33 minutes on the clock he finished superbly in the right hand corner after some excellent team play. He then converted his own try for a 10-8 lead.

With the final play of the half Hinckley’s dominant scrummage led to a score for the captain Alex Salt.

Hinckley continued their strong showing at the start of the second half and Preston suffered, having two men sent to the bin.

Ben Avent scored the third try on 50 minutes and the bonus point then came from a push over finished again by Salt on 58 minutes. Bullivant converted both tries.

Following that Preston went up a gear, and helped with an increasing Hinckley penalty count scored their second try with 13 minutes to play, earning a bonus point with a score from a lineout with just a minute left on the clock.

Next week Hinckley travel to Otley.
