Will Harry and Meg jet off to Africa with their little one?

They’re heading for Africa with the new bubba

Their lives are set to change forever, with the arrival of their firstborn child. But Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t fazed – in fact, they’re all about challenging the status quo. And last week, their royal highnesses continued to rock the boat, with reports that they’re planning to move to Africa as part of an international role (with baby on board, of course). Apparently, all the criticism and negative press they’ve been getting on home ground, coupled with continued tension with Kate and Wills, is finally getting to them – and a fresh start in their beloved Africa might just be the answer to all their woes.

“The feeling is that they’re ready to get away from the stress of being in the UK,” a palace insider tells heat. “Talks are at an early stage – they want to have the baby

before making any firm decisions, obviously, but their two top choices are Botswana and South Africa. Both are appealing in different ways to them – it’ll come down to where they can be afforded the best protection that money can buy.”

Last week, sources claimed that royal advisors – including Sir David Manning, former British ambassador to the US, and Lord Geidt, the Queen’s former private secretary – have been busy working on a bespoke role for the Duke and Duchess, which would combine both their Commonwealth and charity work. Then, Harry and Meg fuelled the rumours further by posting a gallery of personal photos to Instagram to mark Earth Day, including several they’d taken in Africa. But we’re told the couple’s royal commitments and love for the continent – Harry has called Botswana his “second home” – are only half the story. The rift with Prince William and Kate Middleton is widening – and, now that they’ve officially split their staff, they have all the more reason to uproot and distance themselves from the drama.

“Harry and Meghan’s relationship with William and Kate is virtually non-existent at the moment – neither couple is backing down – and that’s created a huge issue for the monarchy,” our source tells us. “In an ideal world, Harry and Meg would stay in the UK, but at this point, it looks like that won’t happen. While moving abroad may seem extreme on the surface, it actually makes a lot more sense.”

Sources say the move could be as soon as 2020, and would involve Harry and Meg being away for two to three years at the most. And while no official announcement has been made, there’s been no outright denial. Instead, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson responded, “Any future plans for the Duke and Duchess are speculative at this stage. No decisions have been taken about future roles.”

Who else reckons Kate’s hoping the rumours are true? n
