Sam and Ferne narrowly avoid a red-carpet run-in
The reality feud rumbles on...
You might think wearing the same frock as someone is the worst thing that could happen at a posh do – but perhaps running into your best friendturned-enemy on the red carpet tops even that.
That was the case at last week’s NHS Heroes Awards. Ferne Mccann and Sam Faiers were both in attendance at the event in London and, according to onlookers, came very close to a cringe-inducing run-in. Sources said that Ferne attempted to make a quick exit from the red carpet when Sam arrived with her boyfriend Paul Knightley.
“At one point, they were both queuing to get their pictures taken at the far end of the red carpet, and Ferne stepped away to make sure they didn’t come close enough to speak,” an eyewitness tells heat.
At the bash, Ferne partied with reality pals Vicky Pattison and Binky Felstead, while mumof-two Sam hung out with her boyfriend of three years. Later in the evening, Sam appeared to make a dig at Ferne by captioning a pic, “Don’t kill my vibe.”
While the former TOWIE stars used to be the best of friends, the pair seemed to fall out shortly after Ferne revealed she was pregnant in May 2017. And, even though their daughters were born just days apart, they are not believed to have met each other.
At the time, it was rumoured that Sam had ended her friendship with Ferne due to her maintaining contact with criminal exboyfriend Arthur Collins, and Sam has said, “Over quite a long period of time, we haven’t seen eye to eye on a number of things.” However, Ferne recently squashed rumours that their fallout had anything to do with her ex. “I was hearing that she warned me off Arthur. That is completely untrue and you’re hearing it from the horse’s mouth,” she said.
Instead, Ferne called out Sam for her behaviour and made it clear it was a war of reality shows that began their feud. “I haven’t done anything wrong [to Sam]. To make this clear. Sam fell out with me,” the 27 year old stated. “The reason, as far as I’m concerned, that she fell out with me is because I decided to take this show.
“We had 15 years of friendship, my first baby is one week apart from her baby and it can still be lovely. All I’ll say is that it’s a terrible shame.” ■ KATIE HOLLOWAY
