A quickie with... Harry Richardson

-

So, we know that Drake’s got the hots for Morwenna. How did you find doing the romantic scenes?

Working with Elise was fantastic. She is so giving and brilliant at what she does. Drake and Morwenna form an immediate connection. I think it’s a very relatable love, where two people fall for each other who are from completely different worlds and social classes. Everything is pulling them apart, but the one thing they know to be true is their instant passion for each other. Drake is a huge romantic, but we all are when we find someone we fall head over heels for.

What’s your favourite thing about playing Drake?

Drake has so much energy and exuberance,

a real passion for life. He’s going on this incredible journey from boy to man, as he starts to realise what’s important to him, what his beliefs are, and where he stands on love, religion and life.

Did Aidan Turner and the rest of the established cast make you feel at home when you joined?

Oh yes, Aidan’s been brilliant – I think he was excited to have new young cast members to bounce off. He said it was like a new beginning for the show. And I was really lucky, because I joined the show at the same time as Tom York, who plays my brother, Sam, and we got along like a house on fire from the first day.

It’s weird because you do actually look like brothers, and also a bit like Eleanor Tomlinson, who plays Demelza…

I know! A lot of people have been saying that. I love the fact it’s believable that we’re related.

In this series, you’re the new hot young thing. Are you ready for the kind of attention that Aidan gets?

[Laughs.] Yes, I am. Bring it on!
