It was another busy week on the Hamilton Advertiser’s social media pages.

Plans are being hatched for a £100,000 visitor centre that will tell the story of the ‘lost’ lanarkshir­e mining village of Bothwellha­ugh.

Our story was a big hit on Facebook after we revealed the proposals from the Bothwellha­ugh Ex-residents Committee.

Bob Baird said: “i like the idea. Be well worthwhile.”

Karen Ferguson Cox posted: “my daughter had to do a project for school and this is what she did it on and it makes a great read.

“Hard to believe there was a thriving community there.”

Ella Prosser added: “i travelled through it everyday on my way to college at Coatbridge by bus in 1965.”

Laura Forrester tagged in Keith Forrester and said: “told you there was a village there.”

And Vikki Macdonald commented: “Brilliant idea.”

Shona Girdwood of Bellshill wants a podium finish at the World Halfironma­n Championsh­ips in America next month and plenty of people wished her well after reading our story about her.

Nicky Miller said: “enjoy the trip and good luck Shona.”

Sarah Brown posted: “fingers crossed for you.”

And Shona herself replied to all of the comments, saying: “Thanks very much everyone.”

Super-slimmer Charlene Mcgilvery has dropped from a size 16 to 12 and the Larkhall lady said that the weight loss has changed her life.

Dozens of people responded when we shared her story.

Katie Waughdick Inglis said: “well done Charlene, you look absolutely stunning.”

And Michelle Radcliffe commented : “Well done, that’s amazing!”

Hamilton teen Alistair Graham (14) won three cycling gold medals at the Special Olympics in Sheffield, and our readers were delighted to mark his success.

Jennifer Mcnicol said : “ali is an absolute credit to his family and given his dedication to his training, this is exactly what he deserves.”

Celia Tennant added: “so delighted for Ali. He’s taken the opportunit­ies and worked so hard.”
