Duo are back in game

-

Two managers who quit their posts with county Junior clubs in the final quarter of last season have this week taken up new coaching positions.

Billy Mcdonald, who spent several mid-season months as manager of Lesmahagow before quitting in the relegation run-in, has been appointed as a coach by Thorniewood United.

Murdo Mackinnon, who resigned as Blantyre Vics boss in May after a six-month stint due to promotion at work, has been called in by former Shotts gaffer Tony Mcinally to join his coaching staff at Pollok.

He takes on the assistant manager’s role at the Super Premier League club in place of Stewart Ralston, who has retired.

Thorniewood manager Andy Frame was delighted to bring Mcdonald back into the game.

He said:“when Richard Tobin indicated he was taking time away from the Juniors because of work commitments, I immediately contacted Billy.

“I’ve known him over the football circuit for many years and I’m delighted he agreed to the move.

“His knowledge of the latest training methods will bring out the best in our players.”

Mcdonald, who has just received his Uefa‘a’coaching badge, said:“my Lesmahagow experience had its ups and downs.

“I know I need to improve my man-management skills, but I’m glad to get involved again.”
