Rishworthians under 11s head to Brods for triangular tournament
RISHWORTHIANS UNDER 11s were invited to Brodleians played a three-way tournament with Littleborough.
With a big squad, Rishworthians made up two teams, Cougars and Jaguars, to face the Brods.
In the first game, Rishies beat Brods 7-1.
Both teams opened strongly but the Cougars began to dominate play and a hat trick from Jared Holroyd set the platform with Josh Cooke and Rocco
Hirst chipping in with a brace of tries each.
Brods added a consolation try late in the game.
A resurgent Brods won game two 3-2, opening the scoring before Seth Brookes levelled the scores.
Two more tries gave Brods the lead and as the game drew to a close Tobias Stansfield made it 3-2 to Brods as they hung on for a deserved win.
Rishworthians came out on fire in game three, beating Littleborough 7-1 with tries from Cooke (2), Hirst, Holroyd, Brookes, Stansfield and Oscar Marsden.
RISHWORTHIAN UNDER 16s warmed up for next week’s Yorkshire Cup semi final with a workmanlike 31-10 win at Huddersfield YMCA.
Man of the match was Seb Fahey, who was in fine form with a four try haul.
Full back Archie Horsfield burst into the back line to score a well worked try and Sammy
Hopkinson added two conversions.
RISHIES’ UNDER 13s had a comfortable win 55-5 at Cleckheaton, while the the under 15s beat Guisborough 17-7 in a hard fought game.
RISHIES UNDER 12s crossed the Pennines in search of a game against a strong club and found it at Stockport, who were a definite step up in terms of size and quality .
Rishworthian Leopards lost 9-2 to Stockport A, with Harry Bush and Reuben Flynn scoring their tries.
Rishworthian Leopards went down 5-0 to Stockport B, before the Cheetahs won 6-1 against Stockport A with tries from Ronnie Darby (2), Ranulph Hawes (2), Evan Johnson and Oisin Gallen Watkinson.
In the final game, the Cheetahs lost out 7-3 to Stockport B,
Their tries came from Reuben Brant-Woods, Ronnie Darby and Oisin Gallen-Watkinson.
