Good times with Leanne Best
Actor Leanne, 40, who has starred in Line Of Duty and Cold Feet, lives in London.
The last great film you saw…
If Beale Street Could Talk destroyed me. Such beautiful performances, cinematography, music… all of it. It’s storytelling at its finest and most essential.
The film you could watch over and over… I refuse to name it a guilty pleasure, but few things in life rival Practical Magic on a rainy Sunday under a blanket with a load of snacks. The performance that made
you cry… I’m bound to sound incredibly saccharine, but honestly, watching the cast of Sweat [which Leanne starred in at the Gielgud Theatre earlier this year] in the rehearsal room. Each one of them had a moment that brought me to tears.
The one play you’d tell everyone to see… The Son, which opened at Kiln Theatre and has transferred to the West End. Catch it.
The podcast you loved…
I love [spiritual teacher] Ram Dass. His podcast Here And Now was a game changer for me.
The last boxset you binge watched… Netflix’s Stranger Things. Epicness! Top of your TV planner this month… I’ve been pretty useless of late because I’ve been working on stage, so I have Chernobyl [available on Now TV] primed and ready to go. The album you loved… Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You. I had it on repeat.
The last recommendation
you received… I had a brew with [theatre director] Indhu Rubasingham and she recommended the memoir Wave by Sonali Deraniyagala.
The book that inspired you…
I’m a great lover of fiction but one that I return to time and again is Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. It travels with me everywhere I go.
The ticket you’d love to get your hands on… Springsteen. Always Springsteen. Leanne is starring in Carnival Row, which is available to watch now on Amazon Prime
I binge watched Netflix’s Stranger Things.
Epicness!
