SUNSHINE SPRITZES

Fresh, uplifting and citrussy scents are as perfect for sunny days as a chilled glass of rosé. Here are three newcomers to try:  A lightweight blend of Sicilian and Calabrian citrus, Les Eaux De Chanel Paris-riviera, £99, is a chic fragrance that’ll take you through poolside aperitifs and summer parties.  Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante, £59, is an unexpected combination of fruity bergamot notes with candied ginger, lending a spicy twist to an irresistibly sparkly, upbeat scent.  Be adventurous and give niche perfume label N.C.P. Olfactives a try. 101 Clementine & Violet Flower, £48 (Selfridges), opens with bright mandarin and dries down to a soft, lingering musk.

PRETTY-UP YOUR FEET Eve talks SUMMER LOOKS

Coloured mascara is back. If your first thought on reading this is ‘scary’, you’re not alone. However, be assured, it can look wonderful worn with confidence against sun-kissed skin. You may prefer to give bold yellow and pink a swerve, but green, blue and purple look so pretty on top lashes, or even just on lash tips. Also, you can create a subtle tint by applying a brighter shade over your regular black or brown mascara. You may like it so much that you’ll wear it with a matching eye pencil. Very now!

• Shiseido Controlledchaos Mascaraink in Violet Vibe, £25, and Pop Beauty Lashy Flashy Mascara in Tantalizing Teal, £8.  Give foundation a break and

• Decléor Green Mandarin Sun Kissed Cream, £58, a go. It’s hydrating, with skinplumping hyaluronic acid, and contains beta carotene and light pigments for a tinted glow that adapts to any skin tone.

• For a low-maintenance, everyday self-tan, add tanning drops, such as Balance Me Gradual Tanning

Drops, £30, to your regular face and body moisturisers. Use them twice weekly; the more you add, the deeper the tan. With sandal season in full swing, previously sock-bound feet are now on show, cracked heels and all. The most effective treatment is a specialist heel balm, but which one? We asked a panel of 219 women to try 11 balms for a fortnight and these were the two standouts: O’keeffe’s Healthy Feet, £8.49, and Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Cream, £12.99, each scoring 86/100. Both creams made the feet of our testers look better after two to three days of use and notably smoother after two weeks. Plus, they scored top marks in our lab tests. Which one to choose? Testers praised O’keeffe’s for being fragrance-free, non-greasy and quick-absorbing, while they described Burt’s Bees as thick and raved about its coconut and rosemary scent. ON TEST

NATURAL BEAUTIES

Spending a few hours recently with Miranda Kerr, supermodel and founder of Kora Organics, was enjoyably exhausting and fascinating in equal parts. Exhausting because she didn’t stop talking (despite suffering with morning sickness that day), and fascinating due to her genuine passion for all things organic. Her products contain the super-fruit noni (Granny Kerr’s cure-all; she even claimed it made a lame dog walk), which happens to be packed with antioxidants. They are all filtered through rose quartz, too, and Miranda claims the crystal is perfect for rebalancing our heart centres. The products are also rather good! I’ve had skin compliments galore after using the Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask, £43, and Noni Glow Face Oil, £60. Also catching my eye this month is Upcircle (new in Boots). Its Coffee Body Scrubs, £14.99, and Face Scrubs, £12.99, are made from used coffee grounds collected from cafes and packaged in aluminium tubes: no plastic! Herbal Essences gets a thumbs-up, too, for partnering with leaders in plant science, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, which is authenticating the botanicals the brand uses (not all plant extracts found in beauty products have the provenance or potency one might expect). Look out for Herbal Essences Bio-renew Hair Masks, £6.
