Nifty At Fifty: Congratulations to the Nicholson Twins, Sian (Phillips) of Broadlands (a younger Madonna with her keep fit expertise) and Rhianydd (Nicholson) who has been kept fit delivering many babies throughout the years. The ‘girls’ will celebrate their 50th Birthdays on Monday, August 27 and Love and Best Wishes are sent from all the family and many friends. Enjoy !

Laleston Gardening Club: The Clubs 48th Annual Horticultural Show and BBQ (Barbecue) takes place at Cliff Cottage in Laleston on Saturday, September 1. The show secretaries, Pauline Sloan and Joyce Pegg have been busy finalising arrangements.

Show schedules have been available for some time and it is hoped club members will support the show with multiple entries on the show benches, despite the challenging weather conditions for growing vegetables.

As well as vegetables, there are classes for Cut flowers, Pot Plants, Flower Arranging, Preserves, Baking, Arts and Crafts, Photography and a new section for children and families where medals will be awarded to the successful children.

Anyone interested in exhibiting can enrol as a member of the club on the day and this will entitle them to submit entries. Under 18s do not have to be club members to exhibit.

Completed entry forms can be processed at the club between 6pm and 8pm on Friday, August 31 and between 9am and 11.45am on Saturday, September 1. Staging of exhibits/ entries takes place on the Friday Evening or before 12noon on the morning of the show.

Judging starts at 12.15pm and the show is open to the public from 2pm. Novice exhibitors need not worry as Pauline and Joyce will always be available to give advice and lend a hand with the staging.

There is no admission charge and visitors to the show will be able to view the exhibits, partake of some refreshments and enjoy what the BBQ has to offer. There will be craft stalls, tombola and the clubs ladies section are preparing some exceptional food and drink hampers as prizes for the raffle.
