Tenovus Cancer Care launches big birthday raffle

-

A NEW car worth more than £10,000 is up for grabs in the Tenovus Cancer Care Big Birthday Raffle.

Launched as part of the charity’s 75th anniversary celebrations, the Big Birthday Raffle aims to raise £75,000 to help fund Tenovus Cancer Care’s vital research, treatment and support.

The Big Birthday Raffle is supported by Nathaniel Car Sales, which has kindly supplied a brandnew MG3 Form Sport car worth more than £10,000 to be given away as the top prize.

Tenovus Cancer Care community fundraiser Alexandra Smith, commented: “In the 1960s the 10 founders of Tenovus, as it was originally known, donated a car to be raffled to raise money for a care home for the elderly that was in financial difficulties.

“Now, more than 50 years later with the charity celebrating its 75th year, we are excited to be giving away a stunning car that will help raise vital funds so we can deliver our services where patients and their loved ones need us the most, in the heart of the community.

“Selling just 20 tickets will pay for our dedicated cancer support line for one hour and helps fund a service that is available every day of the year for cancer patients and their loved ones.

“Everyone at Tenovus Cancer Care would like to say a big thank you to Wayne Griffiths at Nathaniel Cars for supporting the Big Birthday Raffle.”

Wayne Griffiths, managing director of Nathaniel Cars, said: “It’s fantastic to be a part of the 75th birthday celebrations.

“We are amazed at the energy that everyone connected to Tenovus has and their commitment to raising money is inspirational.

“It’s the first year that we have been associated with Tenovus, but it most definitely won’t be the last and we look forward to supporting this amazing charity in the future. Nathaniel Cars would like to wish Tenovus all the very best with the 75th birthday raffle!”

The Big Birthday Raffle was launched at Nathaniel Cars’ showroom in Bridgend by First Minister Carwyn Jones AM and Ospreys and Wales international rugby player Scott Baldwin.

Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones said: “I would like to thank Tenovus Cancer Care for all the good work that they do in our communities.

“Here’s to another 75 years where many more people will be offered hope where previously none existed and who are given the inspiration by other people to look at life anew and to look forward with optimism.”

Tickets for the Big Birthday Raffle cost just £2 and can be purchased in any Tenovus Cancer Care, through the Friends of Tenovus community groups and at the charity’s events throughout the summer and online.

The top prize is the new MG3 Form Sport car, second prize is a family holiday at a Watermark’s luxury lakeside lodge and there are five chances to win a £50 John Lewis voucher.
