WINNING RUN FOR BRIDGEND RAVENS

-

BRIDGEND RAVENS ..21 NEATH .........................15

BRIDGEND Ravens got their third victory of the season in a hard fought Tuesday night tussle at the Morganstone Brewery Field.

An early Neath attack was repelled and then the visitors were reduced to 14 men when winger Jordan Condon was yellow carded for an illegal aerial challenge.

Nevertheless, the Blacks took the lead with a 40 metre penalty by former Maesteg full back Ed Howley.

The Ravens hit back by winning the kick off and the popular prop Cai Lewis charged over for a try converted by outside half Jamie Murphy.

Then came a brawl following a ruck and the referee sent off Adam O’Driscoll and Neath’s Leon Ward for fighting after consulting the touch judge.

The Ravens went further in front when centre Nathan Edwards crossed for an unconverted try.

At the start of the sec- ond half, Zac O’Driscoll was yellow carded for a tackle on Iwan Evans so it wasn’t the greatest of nights for the O’Driscolls. Neath took full advantage with Howley scoring and converting a try soon followed by another from Scott Gibson to give them the lead.

Neath’s discipline started to go and Gibson was sin binned for an illegal tackle and the Blacks gave away a succession of penalties which led to Murphy kicking three of them to round off the scoring of a fiery match.
