Dundee battling to avoid the drop

- BY GARY HEATLY

DUNDEE Rugby are gearing up for a crucial period as they strive to secure their place in National One for next season.

Currently positioned ninth in the league table, just one point ahead of the relegation spot occupied by GHK, Dundee face a pivotal match against sixth-placed GHA.

With only four games remaining, the competition at the lower end of the table is intensifying, making each match decisive.

The upcoming clash against GHA holds particular significance, as Dundee suffered a 27-10 defeat in the earlier fixture this season.

Dundee head coach Alan Brown is looking at this phase as a fresh start for the team, especially after a challenging run of results leading into Christmas.

In National Two, Kirkcaldy are focused on securing positive results to solidify their position and stay clear of the relegation spot.

Currently in seventh place, they face eighth-placed Stirling County, aiming to improve their defensive performance from their previous encounter, which County won 49-26.

After a positive win at Allan Glen’s, Howe of Fife are continuing their pursuit of a top-three finish in National Three.

Hosting Boroughmuir, they anticipate a competitive match, considering their thrilling 41-36 victory earlier in the season.

In National Four, Dunfermline are eager to resume their campaign and maintain their push for a topfour finish.

With six games left, they face third-placed Whitecraigs and are seeking redemption after falling short in their previous encounter.

Eighth-placed Perthshire take on fifth-placed Strathmore in another National Four fixture.

The Stewartry v Ross High match has been postponed as a mark of respect for Aiden Hoenigmann, a player for Ross High who has died aged 27.

In Caledonia One’s North Conference, Kinross and Howe Crusaders are set to face off this evening, while the main event tomorrow will see Panmure and Dundee Rugby’s second team competing to determine the top finisher in their league.

The outcome of these matches will significantly impact the standings and the teams’ prospects as they navigate the remainder of the season.
