Can Spiders arrest slump at Laing Park?

-

CARNOUSTIE will be out to maintain their lead at the top of the Super League w it h a home w i n over Downfield.

It will be the second time the sides have met at Laing Park this season with the Gowfers dominating the first meeting with a comfortable 4-0 victory.

The Spiders have lost their last two matches to Lochee United and North End and manager Paul Marr will be hoping they can regain the form that saw them go the previous three matches undefeated.

Marr will make a l ate selection, while the Gowfers have a full squad apart from Sam Simpson, who is suspended.

Lochee United will have a new face in their squad for their trip to Kirrie.

Bluebells manager George Shields has fixed up experienced defender Andy Ballantyne from North End.

Ballantyne acted in a dual role with the Dokens as coach and player but he will be concentrating on the playing side at Thomson Park.

The Bluebells will be out to keep the pressure on Carnoustie but they have unhappy memories of the last time they met the Westview side when they were held to a 3-3 draw at Thomson Park.

They will again be without long-term injury victims Ross Gallagher and Craig Smith.

Thistle are still shorthanded but Robert Smith is back in contention.

After last week’s 5-0 defeat at Tayport – their fourth-successive loss – boss Darren Scott is hoping to add a couple of new signings.

Luncarty are at home to Forfar West End, who are bottom of the table.

The Bleachers will be without Dan Walker, who is suspended.

West End go i nto the game minus suspended trio Callum Walls, Liam Godfrey and Jordan Timmons.

They include new signing, defender Andy Webster from Scone Thistle, in their squad and posted a very pleasing 4-2 win over Montrose U/20 in midweek.
