not getting in on the scoring act himself.

Slipped in by Simon Murray on 65 minutes, the 22-year-old completed a lung-busting run from his own box into the Hamilton area only to fall at the last hurdle with the goal gaping.

He added: “I felt my legs going, I felt them kind of cramping a wee bit and I could hear Gowser in my ear.

“He was still giving it to me in the dressing-room after!

“We got the result but that’s something I need to work on – that final bit of my game where I need to be a bit more calm in front of goal or just pass it.

“We were delighted to get the win, though, that’s the main thing.”

Kerr also took time to praise the 5,000 Dundee fans that crammed into Dens Park on Saturday for their terrific support this season.

“Being a Dundee boy and a Dundee fan all my days I know how good they can be,” Kerr said.

“They’ve had some tough times, they’ve had a lot of tough times, in fact, and that’s to say the least.

“All the stuff the club have been doing with the kit launch and, fair play to the media boys, what a great job they’ve done.

“They’re trying to reignite the club to something special and they’re definitely doing that.

“The fans on Saturday, some of them had the new tops on and were singing right to the end and being a player you can’t explain how much that means and exactly what it gives you.”
