Saints’ Stefan is hoping for more Firhill success

-

ST JOHNSTONE head for Partick Thistle on Saturday with midfield man Stefan Scougall in fine form.

The former Livingston player has been a revelation since joining the club from Sheffield United in the summer and performed particularly well in Tuesday’s scoreless home divide against Ross County.

Scougall is looking forward to the Partick game and hoping to do as well as he did on a previous visit while he was plying his trade with Livingston.

Scougall recalled: “We had a few injuries and I was played at left-back.

“I think I scored once and set up two, so it would be nice to get a repeat of that.

“I seem to remember being on the winning side more than once at Firhill, so I hope to have that winning feeling again on Saturday night.”

Scougall came in for some rough treatment from Ross County.

It was the same in the previous two games against Hearts and Rangers but the little midfield dynamo admits that is part and parcel of football.

He is delighted with the way things have gone at Saints, even though the side have hit a sticky patch with no goals and only one point from their last four games.

“We were on a good run before that and, hopefully, we will get back to that, starting on Saturday at Firhill.”

Saints manager Tommy Wright is happy with the club’s tally of 15 points from the first round of games and he’s hoping leading scorer Michael O’Halloran is OK to face the Jags.

He hurt an ankle early in the match against Ross County and was taken off prior to the conclusion of the first half.
