Dundee set for parking restrictions shake-up
The move comes after councillors approved the changes at the latest meeting of the city development committee.
Members of the committee considered a report by executive director of city development Mike Galloway in which requests for additions and alterations to traffic regulations throughout the city were considered.
It was agreed to make changes to the rules on parking and waiting restrictions.
Among the streets which will be affected is Whitehall Crescent, where a section of pay and display bays will be created to replace an “under-used” taxi rank.
Another change is in Bank Street, where it is proposed that waiting restrictions close to the Reform Street junction are altered to allow a future contraflow cycle lane and in a bid to improve road safety. Whitehall Crescent, where new pay and display bays will be created. Elsewhere, waiting time at St Vincent Street in Broughty Ferry will be reduced on the approach to King Street. There will also be a change to the description of the “at any time” restrictions in Blackness Street, on the approach to Blackness Road, to make it match the road markings on the ground. In the Maryfield ward, it’s proposed that the taxi rank descriptions on a Riverside Drive lay-by will also be redescribed to match what is currently on the ground. Motorists in Maryfield and the West End will be provided with a cashless payment method for all on-street pay and display bays. It is proposed that the estimated £1,500 cost of i mplementing all the proposals be met from within the city development car park trading account.
DUNDEE is set for a major shake-up of parking and waiting restrictions across the city.
