A hectic weekend in store

HOCKEY’S Midland Ladies League Cup continues on Saturday.

For the Midland men’s teams there is only one fixture listed, St Andrews University II v Dundee University II on Saturday.

It will be, however, an extremely busy weekend for hockey.

In addition to the National Leagues on Saturday, there is a schedule of 58 first-round cup-ties on Sunday in the five national cup events involving both men’s and ladies teams in the Scottish District and Reserve Cups.

In the National Leagues on Saturday, local involvemen­t in men’s Division One is Edinburgh University v Grove Menzieshil­l in what could be a very close encounter.

Division Two includes St Andrews University v Dundee University. Harris host Greenock Morton in a bottom-of-the-table clash at DISC (1pm) and Dundee Wanderers v Falkirk is at Dalnacraig (3.30pm).

Division Three includes Monarchs v University of Strathclyd­e (Dalnacraig 2pm). Perthshire are away to CALA Edinburgh.

In Regional Division Two, Grove-Menzieshil­l II are away to bottom-of-the-table East Kilbride II.

Grove-Menzieshil­l Ladies host Kelburne (DISC 2.30pm) and MJV Dundee Wanderers visit Division One leaders MCC Western.

Division Two includes St Andrews University v Borders Fjordhus Reivers. Dundee University visit Glasgow University.

Grove A are away to Edinburgh University II in Championsh­ip League One. Kinross are at home to MCC Western III.

In Championsh­ip League Two, St Andrews University II have Perthshire I as visitors.
