VOTE FOR YOUR KILBY TEAM OF THE DECADE

-

Well, 2019 is almost at an end and before you know it the 2010s will have passed you by. Time flies, eh?

The last decade has brought us memes, selfies, Instagram, the rise of streaming, a swathe of superhero movies, an independence referendum, President Trump and (say it quietly) Brexit.

In the world of sport, it’s been an unforgettable time, as we’ve watched Andy Murray win three tennis Grand Slams, Scotland’s rugby side reach two World Cups and claim the Caluctta Cup twice, Scotland’s women’s football team reach their first-ever World Cup finals and we’ve seen the men’s side...yeah, never mind.

On the local sporting scene, it’s certainly been a decade to remember for one team in particular: East Kilbride FC.

Launched in 2010, the club can now boast two Lowland League titles, eight cups in Scotland’s fifth tier, an unofficial world record for consecutive wins and an unforgettable Scottish Cup tie with Celtic.

So with the club achieving so much in such a short space of time, it’s now over to you to crown your best Kilby 11 from the club’s impressive decade in the game.

There’s sure to be a lot of debate and arguments among the fans at K-Park; does Barry Russell get your vote at left-back or will it be Bernard Coll?

Would you start Jamie Longworth ahead of Joao Victoria up front?

Well, over the next few weeks we’ll be asking you to pick your favourite players in each position of a 4-4-2 system (to keep things simple for everyone) and your ideal manager to lead them.

We’ll count the results of our online polls and reveal the public’s dream Kilby 11 of the last decade in time for Christmas.
