Museum is in the festive spirit

-

A seasonal pantomime, Christmas crafts and festive alpacas are just some of the things that will fill you with joys at the National Museum of Rural Life.

A action packed Christmas Fair is being held on Sunday, December 8 at the Kittochside venue.

Greeted by Santa on arrival at the museum, visitors will be able to enjoy a programme of activities that includes an animal marquee where they can meet alpacas, goats, Shetland ponies, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, ducks and chickens.

Glasgow’s Fizzgig Theatre will perform a special Christmas pantomime in the Museum theatre and there will be Christmas craft sessions throughout the day including card decoration and mulled wine sachet making.

A Christmas elf will be on hand to transport visitors in a tractor and trailer to the Museum’s historic working farm.

The Georgian farmhouse will host parlour games and pomander-making and families will also be able to make some environmentally-friendly festive food for Santa’s reindeer.

Visitors can buy handcrafted presents at a one of the Museum’s Christmas gift stalls and can enjoy refreshments at the Museum café as well as fresh waffles, coffees, teas and hot chocolate from a visiting food van.

Shirley Maciver, General Manager, National Museum of Rural Life, said: “Our Christmas Fair at the Farm is a wonderful way for the whole family to enjoy the build-up to the festive season with a host of entertainment and the opportunity to meet some amazing animals. We’re greatly looking forward to welcoming visitors to another great day out here at the Museum.”

The event will run from 10am until 5pm and tickets can be booked online at www.nms.ac.uk or by calling 0300 123 6789.
