Results day can be hard to bear
Results day can be a nerveracking and stressful day for pupils who sat their exams back in May.
And while many will be celebrating their success, others may be worried about the future.
If you have opened up your white SQA envelope and not received the exam results you were hoping for, fear not.
There’s still lots of options available to you, so there’s no need to panic – you are not a failure.
If you don’t get the results you needed, it could be a great opportunity to look into something different, whether a different course, a gap year, additional education, apprenticeships or employment.
James Jopling, executive director of Samaritans Scotland, said: “Exam results day can be really stressful for young people, and for the parents and family members supporting them.
“So it’s important we all keep perspective and ensure we’re putting young people’s well-being first.
“Whether you get the results you’d hoped for or not, it’s ok to find this time tough. Working out your next steps, and preparing to move onto university, college or employment can feel stressful.
“That’s why we’re encouraging young people and those who support them to open up if they’re struggling.”
