Countdown now on to the big day in EK

- Mark Pirie

Santa and his reindeer will be on their way soon – and East Kilbride residents can’t wait.

The East Kilbride News took to the streets of the town to find out what you were looking forward to most about the festive period.

EK shopper Susma Sharma was looking forward to her kids being off school.

She said: “My husband and kids will be off school so it will be great to spend some time with them.

“You’re so busy with getting up in the mornings and rushing around for the school run, so it will be nice to have a break.”

Steven McKay from West Mains was also looking forward to a break.

“I don’t get a lot of time off so it will be nice to see some friends and family,” said Steven.

Mum-of-three Catherine Seix from Westwood said: “It will be good not to have to listen for an alarm in the morning and rush around for school!

“It’s important to have a bit of family time around Christmas.”

William Hay was looking forward to a holiday as the family prepare to travel to Gran Canaria, but he said they would be back for the big day.

His two daughters Ava and Ella were also looking forward to a visit from Santa.

He said: “The whole family are looking forward to a bit of sun, but you always want to be home on Christmas.”
