RAFA’S JAN PLAN
Boss says fresh blood will lift Toffees
RAFA BENITEZ is confident he has the support of Everton owner Farhad Moshiri.
And he revealed he has already held talks with club chairman Bill Kenwright about January signings.
The Toffees boss is under pressure after a run of six games without a win, with a trip to Brentford up tomorrow.
But with Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea to come in three of their next five games, it could get a lot worse.
Benitez said: “Mr Moshiri is quite clever and we can’t complain because he has spent a lot of money.
“He wants to do well but he knows, from when we had conversations in the beginning, they have to support me and support the structure in general so that we can improve.
“All the conversations with him have been really positive. We talk about this all the time but we have to be realistic.
“I don’t want to be here for three years, I want to be here for even more.
I want to be here for the new stadium and try to be successful there also.
“Mr Moshiri, he knows. We are bringing in some players who are doing well but we are also improving some players.”
Benitez will blame injuries to key stars for their slump. Dominic CalvertLewin hasn’t played since August, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Yerry Mina have been missing for more than a month, while the only money spent in the summer was the £1.7m on winger Demarai Gray (inset).
Kenwright visited Finch Farm on Wednesday and held talks with Benitez, who added: “We were talking about what we can do in January and what is going on.
“Everybody is a little disappointed with the situation at the moment but at the same time we are confident we will do well and change things around, especially if we can in the January window.’’
