My lying boyfriend is on a dating site

SECRET PROFILE FOUND

-

MY boyfriend is on an expensive dating site.

His profile shows him skiing, hiking and working out.

There are also shots of him drinking cocktails, eating expensive food and kicking back in cool places.

The problem is he’s supposed to be in a relationship with me.

I was there when he was drinking those drinks and eating that food. I was across the table from him. I even took some of the pictures!

Now he’s telling me to chill out as it’s all perfectly innocent – but his story keeps changing.

Firstly, he told me it was an old inactive account and he’d forgotten to delete the app. When I pointed out that some of the pictures are new, he said his friends had shoved him online for a laugh, but the fees are huge.

This is a top end-agency we’re talking about. I know that the costs are eye-watering because my best friend is on the same site – that’s how I spotted him.

A few weeks ago I went to see her. She was excited because her profile had just gone live and she wanted me to check it out.

We made notes of the guys she found attractive when suddenly she snapped her laptop shut.

She muttered that she needed to get to the shops for milk and

that I should probably go. I’ve known my mate for eight years and asked her what she was going on about. But I didn’t really need to ask because the horrified look on her face said it all.

I had to prise the lid open again and force her to re-log in. I went home and burst into tears. Now I don’t know where I stand.

If my guy really is looking to replace me, why doesn’t he come right out and say it? And why, if I’m so revolting and inadequate, does he still want sex?

JANE SAYS: It sounds like your boyfriend could give Anton Du Beke a lesson in

the tap dancing department. He’s clearly rattled but he has to start telling the truth.

If he really is actively looking for a new partner, where does that leave you?

Doesn’t he think that you deserve better?

From using the snaps you took to trotting out lame lies, he’s busted.

You went to visit your friend expecting to find the man of her dreams. What you didn’t expect was to see his ugly mush popping up.

Did he ever think about your feelings or the fact that you’re not stupid and probably

would have found out about his profile one way or another?

He can’t use you as a stop gap while he waits for someone “better” to come along.

Tell him you won’t be sleeping with him again or even sharing his living space until he can assure you that he’s sorry, he’s made a terrible mistake and he takes your relationship seriously.

Ultimately, you have to trust your instincts and if this is not something you can come back from, it’s probably best you split before your heart is broken some more.
