DAN THE MAN

Ace Arnaut’s a thriller for boss Tindall

- By ALEX CROOK

TOP CHERRY: Arnaut Danjuma scores the only goal of the game

Danjuma’s coolly taken 81st- minute strike – only six minutes after coming on – made it five wins and three draws from Jason Tindall’s eight league games in charge.

The defeat was harsh on City who outplayed their former Premier League hosts for large parts of the game and will have been kicking themselves for not going in with the lead at half- time. City were gifted the chance to open the scoring inside four minutes when Wales defender Chris Mepham gave the ball away cheaply inside his own penalty area.

Antoine Semenyo showed great footwork to make space for himself but could only pick out the side- netting.

Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic came to shot- shy Bournemouth’s rescue nine minutes later with a superb fingertip save to turn behind Tyreeq Bakinson’s angled strike.

Famara Diedhiou should have done better from the resulting corner but could not keep his header down.

Bournemouth had another narrow escape on the halfhour mark when Josh King cleared a Tomas Kalas header off his own goal- line.

A wayward Junior Stanislas free- kick apart, City goalkeeper Daniel Bentley’s only cause for concern before half- time came when he reacted smartly to turn Dominic Solanke’s deflected shot wide. Diedhou also saw his close- range effort blocked bravely by former Robins defender Lloyd Kelly as City continued to look the more likely.

The home side showed more intent in the second half with Solanke and Stanislas going close.

Tindall sent on Holland winger Danjuma for the final 15 minutes in a desperate bid to turn one point into three.

And he breezed past City defender Zak Vyner like he wasn’t there before calmly lifting the ball over the onrushing Bentley.
