New Pope probe
ROY’S RED MIST
FIFA official brandished the red after going to a monitor by the side of the Selhurst Park pitch to see the Serb aim a headbutt at the Derby midfielder (above).
And Milivojevic, who will be banned for three matches for violent conduct, could be in more trouble after grabbing Oliver by the shirt on more than one occasion while protesting.
The Premier League and the referees’ group Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) has pressurised referees not to review video evidence.
And it has taken the third round of the FA Cup for Oliver to follow the example of officials at the World Cup.
Asked about Oliver’s move, Hodgson said: “If it’s going to be the referee’s decision on the field that counts, then why do you bother using the VAR people, sitting there in Stockley Park?
“Make up your mind. Do you want people in Stockley Park to referee it or the referee on the field to referee it?”
But Derby goalscorer Chris Martin said: “It was bit strange to see the ref use the monitor... but overall I think the right decision was made.”
Report: Pullout
TOM POPE could be in hot water over his latest social media post.
Hours after scoring in Vale’s 4-1 FA Cup defeat by Manchester City, he took to Twitter to answer a question from a fan.
“We invade Iran then Cuba then North Korea then the Rothchilds are crowned champions of every bank on the planet,” he said after a Twitter user asked him to “predict the World War III result”.
Despite deleting the tweet Pope, who had earlier caused a storm with a jibe at Manchester City’s John Stones, could face an FA investigation.
