Call to cut rail fares for actors

HOLLY’S FRUITY

-

TOO PRICEY: Train A CAMPAIGN to win cheap rail fares for actors has been blasted by critics.

A film boss wants the same discounts as for students so actors can get to auditions around the country.

Nearly 5,000 people have signed Matt Long’s petition to persuade train operators to provide the discounts.

But his plea on behalf of hard-up actors provoked a backlash online.

Paul Andrew Goldsmith said: “Utterly ridiculous... and that comes from an actual working actor.”

Nicole Browns said:

“If this was to lower rail prices for everyone I could understand but for actors?”

David Herschell said: “How about all those providing essential services like police, NHS, social workers, medical staff, care home staff etc instead of a failed extra audition for Casualty?”

Matt, who founded Bulldog Films and is based in Norwich, said: “The British entertainment industry has a massive pool of hard-working, talented actors and actresses undiscovered because most cannot afford to travel to an audition, which is unpaid.”
