DIER MEMORIES

-

the former Crystal Palace and Sunderland boss is focused on saving a club he admits are in crisis despite their thumping 4-0 midweek win over West Ham.

“I think it has been in turmoil, there is no doubt about that,” said Allardyce ahead of today’s visit of Huddersfield.

“The fact that the changes have had to be made through results not being what was expected, it throws everybody into a bit of panic and turmoil.

“Of course you have to come in and calm that down and the only way you do that is by getting the players together and getting them in a better frame of mind to produce their best performances.

“People will say an 18-month contract is short term but it will all be determined by where we both lie.

“It would be very nice to get away from that fire-fighting label and say we are moving in the right direction as a football club.

“My contract will last about as long as how successful I am here.

“We will always try and play the right way and entertain them and win. At the end of the day if we don’t win then it doesn’t really matter how we play, does it? We are going to get criticised.

“If we out-pass the opposition 75 per cent to 25 per cent would that matter if we lose? It wouldn’t, would it?

“We have to win and we have to try to win in the right way – is there a wrong way of winning?”
